Laura Cannell Fiddle PR Pic OSCexplores the spaces between ancient, improvised, traditional and experimental music. Often taking as a starting point for her music lost or forgotten fragments of medieval music and intertwining her unique and fiery playing style. A self-taught fiddle player and trained recorder player, Laura has been described as a “Virtuoso Magpie Musician” by THE TIMES. Having established herself as an innovative performer and explorer of early and contemporary music. She founded the experimental early/folk duo Horses Brawl in 2003 and has toured extensively throughout the UK and beyond. She has been broadcast live in concert by BBC Radio 3 (Late Junction, The Early Music Show and In Tune) and has appeared on ITV, BBC4  and Sky Arts.  Laura’s recent releases include: ‘Ruminantia’ by Horses Brawl and ‘Feathered Swing of the Raven’ with the harpist Rhodri Davies in 2012. Her recordings have received highly  acclaimed reviews in The TimesThe Independent, The Guardian, Songlines Magazine and fRoots amongst many others. She was recently awarded funding from the Arts Council of England for her solo project ‘Medieval Uprising’ (touring & recording in 2014).
